The hold and overload

Sea and sailing

Trade goods over half the hold (three quarters on a trader's hull) — overload, −20 % speed. Over the brim — −35 %. Ship's stores do not count.

  1. The fourth bar under the portrait is the hold. The tick on it is the overload line: half the hold, or three quarters on trade and hauler hulls. The bar turns amber as you come near.

  2. Past the line the bar reads «OVERLOAD» and the ship loses 20 % of her speed. Only trade goods count; provisions, sailcloth and planks never do. Over 100 % of the hold, everything counted, it is −35 %.

  3. The effect «Overloaded» shows by the portrait with its penalty. Tap it for the card: what fills the hold and how much speed it costs.

  4. The cure is simple: sell in port («Sell» on the market) or put goods in the warehouse. An overloaded hold also blocks the neutral flag and the passage between hubs.
