A pirate strikes her colours

Battle

A beaten pirate, patrol or hunter may ask for mercy. «Take all and sink her» — her purse and hold; «Take her crew and let her go» — 30 % of her crew and purse.

  1. «The ship strikes her colours!» She gives up when her hull is under a quarter, her crew under 30 % or her morale broken, and you clearly out-gun her. Only pirates, patrols and hunters do; monsters, bosses and named captains never.

  4. The card shows how far she is; she will not wait long (75 s). Alongside your choice works at once; from farther the helmsman lays you alongside. «Later» hides the card; firing on her refuses the surrender and the fight goes on.
